Finał Wielkiej Orkiestry Świątecznej Pomocy (the Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity) - The greatest charity event of the year takes place all over Poland on the first or second weekend of January. Thanks to the charisma of the leader, Jurek Owsiak, within a dozen years since the first edition the Orchestra has become a nationwide phenomenon. The Final is organised in all major Polish cities, with numerous concerts, auctions and shows. Łódź specialises in car rides with the best Polish rally drivers. The events of the Final usually take place in Piotrkowska or Piłsudskiego Streets or in Manufaktura. Everyone participating in the auction, i.e. giving money to fund collectors with special cans, is given a red heart sticker in return.

Ogólnopolski Festiwal Sztuk Przyjemnych i Nieprzyjemnych (National Festival of Pleasant and Unpleasant Plays) - takes place annually at the end of February / beginning of March. The main idea of the event is to present the most interesting trends in the Polish theatre. The Festival, which presents comedies, tragicomedies, dramas and more experimental forms, is organised by Powszechny Theatre in Łódź. The event attracts both Polish and European theatres.

Międzynarodowy Festiwal Fotografii (International Festival of Photography) - takes place every year in the second half of May. The Festival includes several dozen exhibitions by Polish and European photographers, as well as presentations by Polish art academies, workshops, lectures and meetings with authors.
Festiwal Dialogu Czterech Kultur (Festival of Dialogue of Four Cultures) - a flagship cultural event for the city, first launched in 2002. The Festival is aimed at highlighting the multiculturalism of Łódź as the city whose history was shaped by the intertwining of four nationalities: Russians, Jews, Germans, and Poles. The event gathers artists from these founding nations who present plays, concerts and recitals. The Festival takes place annually at the beginning of September in Łódź theatres and on open-air stages.

The Explorers Festival - the festival, which invariably attracts world-famous climbers, travellers and mountain-lovers, takes place each November (the first was in 1999). The participants have the chance to watch films showing Earth’s most interesting spots and the perfect opportunity to meet exceptional people and visit travel photography exhibitions.

Camerimage - the greatest and most prestigious festival of cinematography artists in the world, organised each year in late November and early December. Thousands of visitors have the chance to meet world-famous camera operators and directors and participate in film shows, workshops, seminars and meetings with authors. David Lynch is the festival’s permanent guest.
Skating rinks - several outdoor skating rinks are open in Łódź from December to January. The most popular places to try your skating skills are: the square in front of the Grand Theatre (opposite Narutowicza Street), the Nowomiejski Market, and the market square in the premises of Manufaktura.
